Description: Postdoctoral position available summer 2019 studying mammalian sleep, genetics and neuro-circuitry in the laboratory of Dr. Chris Ehlen at Morehouse School of Medicine (Neuroscience Institute) in Atlanta, GA. We are seeking one candidate to lead a project investigating the mechanistic role of sleep in the limbic circuits that regulate resilience to social stress.
Environment: Successful candidates will join a highly successful and collaborative group of six investigators focusing on circadian rhythmicity and sleep. Laboratories are housed within the larger Neuroscience Institute where there is additional focus on epilepsy, stroke and traumatic brain injury.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in biology/neuroscience. Depending on the specific project, experience with one or more of the following is a plus: Rodent stereotaxic surgery, rodent sleep recording/analysis, chemogenetics, behavioral testing, immunofluorescence and confocal or light-sheet microscopy.
