Description

A postdoctoral position to study brain circuits of arousal and motivation and the determinants of behavioral states and state transitions, is available at the University of Lausanne.

You will be conducting electrophysiological recordings, behavioral assays, and perform molecular and neuroanatomical analyses in several mouse models, including mice with genetic alterations affecting the brain circuitry of Hypocretin/Orexin neurons. You will be involved in projects addressing the interplay of Hypocretins with the dopaminergic and noradrenergic systems, and their roles in regulating arousal levels, brain oscillatory networks, as well as cognition and decision making. Application of rodent findings to translational studies on human material are possible.

You must be an outstanding, highly motivated scientist with a PhD and extensive training in rodent neuroscience, including electrophysiological recording and/or behavioral experimentation, with strong quantitative and programming skills, and innovative sense.

Position is available for up to 4 years. You will be working under supervision of Dr Anne Vassalli in the Department of Physiology in the larger context of the laboratory of Prof Mehdi Tafti, in vicinity of the Department of Fundamental Neuroscience, and the Lausanne University Hospital.
