On Thursday, July 13th, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved its FY 2018 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill by voice vote. The following quote is from the report language.  “Sleep Disorders.—The Committee recognizes the importance of sleep, including its impacts on PTSD, TBI, and mental health. The Committee supports VA considering all treatment options for these conditions, including ensuring proper sleep health. The Committee continues to recommend the Department assign a program manager for sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, which affects at least 200,000 veterans of the Persian Gulf War and Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The Department is directed to submit a report to the Committees on Appropriations of both Houses of Congress no later than 90 days after enactment of this act on the status of this recommendation.”
