NIH Transfers all National Center of Research Resources Activities to Other Institutes and Centers
The National Institutes of Health recently issued announcement that details the agency's plan for programs formerly under the National Center of Research Resources (NCRR). On December 23rd, 2011 the NCRR was disbanded as part of the Fiscal Year 2012 Omnibus Appropriations bill. All NCRR programs, awards and applications will be transferred to other Institutes and Centers with the NIH. A list of affected programs and the new Institutes and Centers is available on the NIH website.

New Issue of SRS Bulletin Available
A new issue of the SRS Bulletin has been published on the SRS Website. The layout and design of the SRS Bulletin has been significantly changed to enhance the publication's readability. New navigation icons allow readers to click and jump to specific articles from the table of contents and return to the table of contents at the end of each article. Interactive text within articles uses a consistent color and underline to indicate interactivity.

Call for Committee Volunteers
The Sleep Research Society invites members to volunteer to serve on a standing committee. Committee members provide an invaluable service to the organization and members by contributing to initiatives and projects that are critical to the continued development of the field. Committee volunteers also gain professional enrichment through the diverse activities of a committee.

Call for Applications: SRS Young Investigator Award
The Sleep Research Society Young Investigator Award recognizes an outstanding research effort by new investigators in the field of sleep research. The basis for evaluation of candidates is a single publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The candidate should be the first author and the article must be published or officially accepted for publication by the application deadline. On the application deadline, the candidate must be within seven years of obtaining a terminal degree. Exceptions to this criterion will be considered for those applicants who feel that extenuating circumstances warrant such consideration. A letter detailing these considerations must be included with the application.

SRS Undergraduate Trainee Travel Award Offered for SLEEP 2012
In an effort to reach out to outstanding Undergraduate Trainees, the SRS will is again sponsoring the Undergraduate Travel Award Program to support attendance at SLEEP 2012, the 26th Annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS) in Boston, Massachusetts. Applications for this award are due Monday, February 7, 2012.
