Membership is on a calendar year basis (January 1 - December 31).
Full members possess doctoral degrees and have either published sleep-related research or have documentation of research. Full membership includes the online versions of the journal SLEEP and the SRS Bulletin
Associate Members have special training and are actively engaged in sleep research, usually in a laboratory. Membership includes the online versions of the journal SLEEP and the SRS Bulletin
Student members are engaged in an academy program of study with a sleep research-related component on at least a half-time basis. Student members must be endorsed by a full or emeritus member in good standing.
Postdoctoral Fellows have received their terminal degree and are in a residency or fellowship program. Membership includes online version of SLEEP and the online version of the SRS Bulletin. Membership in this category is limited to five years*.
Predoctoral students include individuals pursuing their masters or doctoral degrees. This category includes individuals who earned their undergraduate degree within the last two years and worked in a sleep research laboratory prior to pursuing advanced degrees. Membership includes the online versions of the journal SLEEP and the SRS Bulletin. Membership in this category is limited to seven years*.
Students pursuing undergraduate degrees are eligible for this type of membership. Includes the online version of the journal SLEEP and the SRS Bulletin. Membership in this category is limited to four years*.
*Membership in these categories is limited to the terms above unless written verification is provided that the member qualifies for additional years as either a Predoctoral Student Member or Postdoctoral Fellow Member.
Emeritus Members must be full members for at least ten years and be retired professionally or have obtained Emeritus status at an academic or research institution. Membership includes the online versions of the journal SLEEP and the SRS Bulletin. Contact the SRS National Office to change your membership status to Emeritus
Corresponding members must be scientists in the field of sleep research from nations other than the United States whose financial and academic situation renders it difficult to pay full member dues. Membership fee reductions are based on the type of work and geographical category.
