WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS
The membership of the Sleep Research Society has grown steadily over our history. In 1986, there were 319 members. As of June 30, 2004, the SRS has 985 members: 648 Full, 261 Student, 31 Associate, 32 Emeritus and 13 Correspondents. We anticipate increased growth as sleep medicine and sleep research continue to become more visible to the medical community and the general public.

One unique aspect of SRS membership is that a full 30% of our members reside in countries outside the United States, and these members represent 32 different countries. This international perspective is vitally important to the initiatives of our society, and we intend to do what we can to retain this significant international representation.

The SRS also attracts a significant number of students to membership in the Society. The leadership of the SRS strongly believes that investing in students in the form of decreased membership dues, organizing trainee workshops, and providing travel assistance, will pay off as these student members will become the faculty of the future. Students comprise 24% of the SRS membership.
