The Trainee and Education Advisory Committee (TEAC) recommends and reviews trainee related programs and activities, including requests for trainee travel assistance, trainee workshops, and trainee activities scheduled in conjunction with the APSS annual scientific meeting. The TEAC will also propose other programs, services and initiatives to meet the needs of the student membership and to promote the profession to this constituency
Activities
- Develop and implement trainee programs to enhance the educational experience for students /trainees and to promote sleep research
- Promote availability of financial assistance and educational/personal growth experiences
- Review applications submitted in the request for trainee travel assistance
- Develop trainee activities in conjunction with the APSS annual meeting
- Recommend/develop trainee educational activities independent of APSS annual meeting
- Provide guidance and support to Trainee Member-at-Large
- Administer annual high school essay contest to raise awareness of field of sleep medicine
- Recommend activities/programs to encourage individuals to pursue careers in sleep research
- Study and recommend the sponsorship of fellowships or scholarships
- Investigate producing and distributing teaching aids
- Develop procedure for tracking trainee outcomes and implement the process
